PREPARATION OF PEA SEEDS FOR GERMINATION AND GROWTH |

PROCEDURE | |
1. To 1 volume of dried pea seeds, add 3-5 volumes of a 10% bleach solution | |
2. Swirl for 5 to 15 minutes and then wash with dH2O until no more bleach is left (10 changes of dH2O or running water for 10-30 minutes | |
3. Imbibe by aerating the seeds in water for 3-4 hours or overnight | |
4. Sow seeds on a flat with coarse vermiculite (with holes) and palce this flat on top of another flat (containing water) without holes |

5. For growth: for etiolated seedlings, grow under moist conditions (water as often as once every two days) depending on the growth chamber conditions. Seedleing should be ready within a week | |
